“Freedom is always the freedom of the dissenter“ (Freiheit ist immer die Freiheit der Andersdenkenden) - Rosa Luxemburg.
About a century ago, on January 15, 1919, Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht, were brutally murdered. The legacy of those two prominent figures of the German labor movement lives on as vibrant symbols of resistance against oppression and for the ideals of a just society.
Rosa Luxemburg, the passionate advocate for social justice and political freedom, vehemently opposed imperialistic wars and the exploitation of humans by humans. Her intellectual sharpness and unwavering belief in the power of the masses have inspired generations of activists.
Karl Liebknecht, a determined revolutionary, proudly carried the banner of socialism with commitment and sacrifice. His unyielding will to rise against war and militarism made him a symbol of resistance against the capitalist system.
Their shared vision of a society where equality, solidarity, and freedom reign was shattered by the painful reality of their murder. Yet, even in their tragic death, they have become immortal – martyrs for a better world.
Today, we commemorate Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht as pioneers of social change. Their commitment reminds us that the struggle for justice and humanity never ends. In a world still marked by inequality and exploitation, we must preserve and carry forward their legacy.
May the remembrance of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht inspire us to stand for a world where the principles of solidarity, equality, and freedom triumph. In their honor, we pledge to never abandon the fight for a fairer society – for the flame of their convictions will continue to burn in our hearts until the goals for which they sacrificed their lives are achieved.
